Sip on something special:
The Coffee Gardens, founded in 2017, bridges the gap between coffee farmers and coffee lovers, offering ethical specialty coffee with full transparency. Every cup you enjoy supports sustainable practices and fair trade.
In 2022, production was expanded by upgrading their washing station, thereby creating more opportunities for the 172 smallholder farmers (20% women) who produce this micro-lot.

This micro-lot is the first experimental "skin contact" lot from the 2023/24 harvest, carefully crafted with an innovative process that enhances the unique flavors of the beans.

Highlights of the Process:

  • Farmer-led delivery: Farmers bring freshly picked cherries down to the station themselves, earning extra income.
  • Meticulous sorting: Cherries are hand-sorted by a dedicated team of four.
  • Innovative fermentation: The coffee undergoes a 23-hour fermentation with fresh coffee pulp (skin contact) for enhanced flavor.
  • Two-stage drying:
    • Initial drying on raised beds in the shade for 2-3 days.
    • Solar drying for 10 days, depending on the season and weather.
  • Final drying: After transportation to the Mbale yard, the beans dry for another 10 days until they reach optimal moisture levels (below 11%).

By the time it reaches your cup, this coffee has been crafted with care, transparency, and innovation at every step. Taste the difference—grown with passion, delivered with purpose.
