Guji Megadu – Ethiopia

This exceptional coffee comes from Bette Buna’s own farm in Guji Megadu, one of Ethiopia’s most remote and breathtaking coffee-growing regions. Nestled in the mountainous Shakisso Woreda, Guji’s dense forests and mineral-rich soils create the perfect environment for producing coffees of stunning complexity and depth.

Bette Buna — meaning “House of Coffee” — was founded by Dawit and Hester after inheriting the legacy of Grandfather Syoum and Grandmother Emame, who built not just a farm, but a thriving coffee community in Taferi Kela. Today, their work extends into Guji Megadu, where they collaborate closely with local leaders and farmers to improve processing methods, promote sustainable practices, and strengthen community resilience.

Every year, Bette Buna distributes over 350,000 climate-adapted seedlings, helping farmers regenerate their land while creating long-term income opportunities. They also champion equal opportunity employment, providing meaningful work for people with disabilities and single mothers — a rare commitment in rural Ethiopia. Their transparent supply chain traces every hand that touches the coffee, ensuring fair wages and accountability from cherry to export.

This anaerobic natural lot was fermented in sealed tanks for 96 hours, then dried slowly on raised African beds. The result is an intensely fruit-forward and expressive coffee, with vibrant layers of bubblegum sweetness, tropical fruit, and wild florals — a true showcase of Guji’s unique terroir and Bette Buna’s meticulous craftsmanship.

We serve this coffee as espresso, it has rich notes of cherry blossom with hints of strawberry, very sweet and a balanced body.
