Giling Basah - Indonesia
This Indonesian coffee brings you straight to the roots of Indonesia’s coffee heritage. Through the traditional processing method Giling Basah, this coffee reveals the unique character of Sumatra’s terroir — a profile that is deeply connected to its origin.
The coffee is grown in Wener Meriah, Sumatra, by an all-women cooperative where female farmers take the lead. Not only in coffee production, but also in cooperative management, financial planning, and community development. In a country where this remains uncommon, they have built a strong and independent structure that empowers women throughout the entire coffee chain.
Beyond coffee, the cooperative supports a more resilient future by diversifying livelihoods through vegetable and fruit cultivation, including avocados and oranges, alongside livestock farming and compost production. This holistic approach strengthens both economic stability and environmental sustainability within the community.
